We are giving you the opportunity to get involved with the Cliffe Woods 5 Mile 2020. With the COVID-19 pandemic playing havoc with the running fixtures, we wanted to still get you involved with this historic event. You can still earn your finishers medal, which is unique to 2020. Even if you join us 2021 at the physical event you won't be able to get your hands on this limited edition medal.
How do I get involved?
Step one: Register on this website!
Step two: Complete your run (or walk!) – you can run any distance, anywhere, any time! Make sure you obey all the current regulations surrounding exercise as laid out by the UK Government.
Step three: Login to your profile on this website to upload your result, including your time and a picture. To add your result, click on the 'Results' tab above, click on the yellow 'Results' button, and then 'Add my Result'.
Step four: Tag us on social media using the hashtag #islandrunvirtual - share your local area pictures, selfies and times!
Step five: Congratulate yourself for a great run when you receive your medal, which will be posted to you in shortly after you upload your run!
Is there an age limit?
The challenge is open all ages. However, anyone under 18 must run with an adult.
How do I keep safe when running in the area?
Make sure you adhere to the Government Social Distancing Guidelines when on your run. Please keep a safe 2M distance from anyone outside of your household, and remember under the current government guidelines you can only run with one other person at the same time. We recommend you run in daylight hours and stick to routes you are familiar with.
How can I track how far I am running?
The easiest way to do this is to use an app on your smartphone that tracks your run for you. Free examples of this include the Nike Run Club, Google Fit and Strava.
When does the challenge end?
The challenge ends at 10pm on 2nd December 2020.
Good luck everyone! Don’t forget to let us know how you are getting on using #cliffewoodsvirtual on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
