Trail Outlaws
Spectacular stars.
Fabulous unique event with a couple of minor points to improve on
My wife and I really enjoyed this event. Running along the paths using head torches was a great experience and something we would do again. There are a couple of improvements to make.
If you state a MANDATORY kit list in the race info, then enforce it.
If you say there is a check point at 5k (half way) then make sure it is there. Don't put it at 8km.
Great run - Great location
Overall a well managed run. Good parking and marshalling throughout the event.
The only negative I had was that the 11 mile event was a there-and-back meaning runners were passing each other near the turn around point. This was a night run so it was annoying that there were head torches shining in our faces as we went to change direction. A loop starting 2km from the turn around point would have alleviated this.
Loved the route, beautiful view of the stars
Quite well organised, but chaotic at the start and finish
Excellent event but took a little detour
My first ever trail race or dark skies event. There was an amazing atmosphere and everyone was so friendly, the shop and registration was well organised.
The route was gorgeous. However within the last kilometre myself and around 10 other people went down a wrong path which took a few hundred metres to realise as we reached the waters edge. The marshalls were lovely but there was no marshall at the point the route crossed a road (no traffic either time I passed). The arrows around the route were small and difficult to notice at times.
Would definitely enter into another dark skies/trail outlaws event
Loved it!
First time doing kielder dark skies 10k and definitely won't be the last. Not the biggest fan of trail running however I absolutely loved every minute of this event. The volunteers were very friendly, beautiful scenery and the YMCA disco lights were fab! Would recommend this to everyone!
A great event and really enjoyed the dark skies run - will be doing this again!
Awesome adventure
Good fun
Chaotic finish, I would suggest separating the finish time recording from the end of race presentation and refreshments. Pre-race briefing lacked course detail (the aid station was 4.5 miles in), also could have included race etiquette (for example not running 3 or 4 abreast). Distance markers would have been nice. Music and jazzy lights much appreciated.
Really enjoyable event, relaxed atmosphere and friendly, helpful volunteers
Brilliant race in a beautiful setting and amazing atmosphere!
Beautiful starry night run
Beautiful event in perfect conditions
Would have benefitted from better signposting from car park to event HQ (and back). Got lost both ways
Beautiful scenery in a wonderful atmosphere
Firstly, I'd just like to pass on my thanks to the wardens and those organising for their hard work and dedication to ensure events such as this can take place in an organised way. My only suggestion would be that perhaps it may be worthwhile staging out things like advising runners to turn off head lamps, taking their number, giving their medal, etc. As opposed to it all being inside the one tipi. I get that it was probably owing to the cool evening. That way it eases congestion and for runners who have perhaps given their last ounce of effort gives them a moment to slow down before ultimately stopping and being shepherded on.
Nonetheless, you guys should be proud for what you do! I'd love to do this again but next time more for fun and to take in the scenery better! Thanks a lot!
Stunning location
Great event - loved it!
A few minor points to make it better:
1. Better signage at one point on the way back.
2. A clearer ‘finish line’
3. Signage to get back to Greenside car park
I loved it and will do it again.
It was my first 10K and I am a new runner in the over 60s bracket. I was nervous but everyone was friendly. My only disappointment was I can't see my time on the results page. I was at the end of the pack.
Stunning location, great atmosphere!
Great event
A well organised night run. Loads of fun, I would highly recommend it. The location was stunning!!!
Stunning
Everything a trail run event should be - set in stunning scenery with mud, challenging hills, and a great community atmosphere.
Beautiful location, well organised and friendly team and volunteers.
Second time for Dark Skies, but have ran other events with Trail Outlaws. Not would, but currently recommending to others they should do it - especially those that run the half marathon in October. Hopefully, there'll be a few more of us next year.
Great event!
