Information

The Looe 10 Miler is an open event and is also part of the Cornish Grand Prix series.

It's the 8th year for this race and we’re again raising money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance New Heli Appeal.

Cornwall Air Ambulance receives no government funding and relies completely on the generosity of local people to provide its service. The charity is looking to raise £2.5 million by April 2020 in order to purchase a new helicopter that will be faster, more powerful and have double the fuel range so that the crew can fly more missions and reach people quicker. This year we are changing things slightly to try and raise even more funds for this critical service.

Early bird entries until 16 November: £15 affiliated / £17 non-affiliated

Regular entries: £17 affiliated / £19 non-affiliated

The race:

An undulating run through West Looe and out onto the coastal road to Talland. A loop around the Killigarth, Porthallow area brings you back down to Talland for the return leg to the finish. We regret that the course is not suitable for wheelchairs. No dogs, pushchairs or walkers.

The race starts and finishes in the Millpool Car Park next to race HQ. There will be three water stations on the route around miles 3, 6 and 9. You must obey marshal instructions and take responsibility for your own safety whilst running the course, especially on the public highway. Marshals are not allowed to stop any traffic.

Please note that runners must not use any portable device with earphones, headphones or earbuds. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in your disqualification and your time will not be recorded.

Registration:

The race HQ will be downstairs in The Millpool Centre and registration will be from 11:30 to 13:00. Pre-entries must collect their race numbers on the morning of the race, on the day entries will be available if numbers allow (see regular updates as limit of 750 approaches). The postcode for the Millpool Centre is PL13 2AF, as you enter Looe, please follow the Race Signage for the Millpool Car Park.

Parking:

There is ample ‘Pay & Display’ parking available in the Millpool Car Park (£2.40 for all day). Please do car share if at all possible.

Mementos:

All pre-registered runners will receive a medal at the finish of the race. Water and snacks will also be provided and all runners will receive a 10% discount at Dave's Diner in Looe.

This year we are hoping to raise a significant sum for the Cornwall Air Ambulance New Heli Appeal through this event. All of us in this part of the world could be in need of their services at any time, a fact that was brought home to us within Looe Pioneers and the local community recently, when the lives of two young relatives were saved thanks to Air Ambulance paramedics. Therefore we are planning to donate a proportion of all race entries to the appeal in lieu of extensive mementos. We hope that you will support this initiative for 2020 and agree that it is a worthwhile cause. We will share the amount raised publicly after the event.

Refreshments:

Hot/cold drinks and food will be available to purchase for runners and spectators upstairs in the Millpool Centre.

Transfers and deferrals:

If you are unable to run due to injury you can defer your place until the following year or transfer the entry to another runner up until midnight on Friday, 14 February. No transfers or deferrals will be permitted after this date. To defer or transfer, please email your details to the Race Director.

Fun Run:

Following on from the success of last year, there will be a Fun Run held before the main event. The race starts at midday from the Millpool Centre and follows an easy route of approximately 1 mile, coming back to the Centre to end on the main 10 Miler finish line. Any child aged 3 or over can take part in the fun run, however anyone under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Medals will be presented to all children.

Registration is at the Millpool Centre (where the numbers for the main race are collected) from 11am. Entry - £2 donation to the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Sponsors (more to follow):

Thank you to our sponsors for supporting the Looe 10 Miler and ensuring we raise as much money as possible for the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
