I smiled from beginning to end
Friendly, fun, fantastic. Just fantastic
Tough one it is!
With the new route starting in Lancing, I initially though maybe it won't be too tough but those little uphills in the last 5km are absolute b**tards!
There should be more stewards/helpers at junctions/crossings/gates to make sure the correct route is taken especially when it's just me myself and I around by myself.
Fantastic event - friendly and scenic
beautiful scenery. challenging hills and ground. brilliant snacks and friendly volunteers
I think I preferred the old course! this one felt much tougher, there was more of the narrow furrowed paths and shingle which was tricky, and more long slow climbs.
Fantastic course
Loved the atmosphere, the course and the aid stations. I parked up early having driven quite a distance to get there and was glad I did as it seemed parking was difficult later on. Well done on a good event - my first Three Forts Challenge HM but maybe not my last!
see you next year
We come back every year for the this one
Loved the new venue and the new course too. Wonderful showers and cafe. Could do with a few more arrows and a more visible tape than the dark green . My heart sank when I saw the ‘ two miles to go’ sign would be better to read ‘ not far now folkes’
Great friendly event
I had heard great things about this event and finally got round to taking part.
All the chat was true. A well organised, friendly event with stunning views as an added bonus.
Great run through the countryside
Beautiful route, well signposted, lovely event
Minor grumble… Pre-event was quite stressful due in part to parking issues but worse was the queue for race numbers which meant no warm up. There were no queues for 5 mile and half marathon numbers so better allocation of people, posting out race numbers prior to race or an earlier open time could have eased some anxiety.
Brilliant
Loved the route (though tougher than expected). Great atmosphere and free post- race massage was a real bonus ( and very neede!)
A challenge to behold
Fantastic half marathon that will challenge even the best, if you like hills this is for you.
Well organised from start to finish, plenty of water stations and great encouragement from the marshals
Scenic, friendly and well organised
You could really feel the sense of community and care from those organising and volunteering at this event. It made it feel extra special. The sliced oranges at the aid stations were great. Whoever made the fruit cake at the end really saved me and helped a quick recovery! I really liked the medal! I did the half marathon and there were a couple of places in the final 5 miles where the path diverges and an additional sign would have been useful, plus the last 300 yards needed some more obvious arrows/signage as it’s quite woody there and my brain wasn’t at its sharpest at that point! This was a fantastic trail run though and you could really tell the level of detail and care that went into organising this event.
GREAT race!
Very well organised, lovely marshals & aid station people, perfectly signposted / directed, beautiful route. A gem. Going into my list of „do again“ runs
An incredible event with even better views!
The event was well organised from start to finish, splitting the events for registration was brilliant as it meant as a 5 mile competitor I didn't have to wait in the marathon queue. All staff and volunteers were friendly, welcoming and accommodating Jenny and Amanda on registration were fantastic and the rotary club team were too on the drinks station!
There was plenty of marshalls around the course and the route was great, the trig point atop the hill with views across east and West Sussex and the college was beautiful with the sun shining. My only criticism would be some sections were quite narrow and uneven on the return leg as a faster runner with so many others oncoming. Otherwise the course was well marked with ribbon where necessary.
The support and catering post event was very much appreciated, great coffee from the guys at DRNK and a lovely burger. Having physio on site was absolutely brilliant. Can't fault any element of the day, shout out to the photographers, organisers, volunteers and anyone I may have missed.
We loved our goody bags, as I ran with my dog Lemmy he devoured his post race treats and I'll be using the water bottle at the health suite.
You should be very proud of what was the best event of my racing calendar this year. When I've got some cash I'll happily re enter for next year to support you and the Ferring country centre.
Definitely a Tough One but a fantastic one
Suffered but an amazingly beautiful route.
4 gripes:
° agree about the medal: I would sooner have been given an option to donate instead of having the medal
° one chap going really well went the wrong way above Findon. Got the impression organisers had made the assumption that all runners had recce'ed the route beforehand here
° whose fault the Worthing Half was on the same day?
Thank you for supporting The Three Forts Challenge and for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really pleased you enjoyed the beautiful route – even if it made you suffer a little! Feedback like yours is invaluable as we continue to improve the event year on year. In response to your points: Medals: We are currently reviewing our approach to medals and will be considering changes for future events. Route signage above Findon: We are looking into increasing signage for 2026, particularly at key points where navigation may be unclear. Date clash with Worthing Half: The Three Forts Challenge has always taken place on the early May bank holiday weekend. When the Worthing Half Marathon changed their 2025 date to clash with ours, we kindly asked them to reconsider. Disappointingly, they have chosen to schedule their event on the same date again in 2026, despite our further request to avoid this. We hope to see you back for another challenge on Sunday 3rd May 2026! Entries are now open. Best wishes Paula
The event was amazing, I enjoyed every bit of it!
Great challenging race
Parking terrible causing stress when you arrive
Great event - beautiful scenery
Beautifully brutal!
New venue makes for harder parking which is a negative, and the sine-age towards the end was confusing- especially on tired legs and tired mind!! Otherwise same as before- very friendly atmosphere and a beautiful run
